Automobile dealers’ body FADA on Thursday said passenger vehicle (PV) retail sales in January declined 4.61 per cent to 2,90,879 units as compared to same month last year, hit by tepid response by end customers. According to Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), which collected vehicle registration data from 1,223 out of the 1,432 regional transport offices (RTOs), PV sales stood at 3,04,929 units in January 2019.
Mercedes brought intrigue to Formula One testing on Thursday with television images showing Lewis Hamilton moving his car’s steering wheel forwards and backwards as he drove. The mechanism appeared to alter the alignment of the front wheels, with the six-times world champion pulling the wheel towards him on the straights and pushing it back as he approached corners.

Hero MotoCorp is ready to partner Harley-Davidson in India as the cult American bike maker looks at a larger play here with low-powered, locally-made products, chairman Pawan Munjal has said. “If they want to enter into a partnership, then why not? I am open to the right kind of match,” Munjal said when asked whether the company is ready for an alliance with Harley.
Design and technology services firm Tata Elxsi on Monday announced partnership with group firm Tata Motors for developing a unified connected vehicle platform. The partnership will aid Tata Motors, which is in the process of offering connected vehicle feature as a key differentiator to most of its BS-VI range of passenger and commercial vehicles, the company said in a statement.
Tata Power is planning to increase its network of electric vehicle charging stations to 700 by next year, a top company official said. The company has already installed 100 fast charging stations in various cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, which it plans to take to 300 by March 2020.

Hearing the application of Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) yesterday, the Supreme Court refused to extend deadline for sale and registration of BS-IV vehicles beyond April 1.
Maruti Suzuki is set to launch 2020 of Vitara Brezza, which will come in petrol-only option. Vitara Brezza’s existing 1.3-litre DDIS motor nearing its retirement. The decision for embracing one version over another is no less than a double-edged sword. In less than four years of its launch, the Vitara Brezza had sold over five lakh units.
